Prompting or vibing with guardrails

Prompting or vibing with guardrails

This is my very first entry for my newly created custom blog site. I had been thinking about this since last year because I wanted to keep my writing skills at a decent level. You can obviously notice opportunities in my writing style while reading this, but this is more about sharing my thoughts as we become fully immersed in how AI is becoming our game-changing tool every day.

It was a year after COVID lockdown (PH lengthy version ECQ>MECQ>GCQ TF!) when I first heard about ChatGPT by OpenAI. I did not even give a damn about whatever that f*cking AI thing was because, back in 2021, that was the year I had just entered a support role for Software Engineering. The product was on-premise, so why would I care about that AI thingy?

Sometime in 2022, I was chosen to be a Reviewer and Publisher in the product pillar from my previous job, which gave me more interest in how I could express my thoughts in writing while following the bureaucratic templates of proofreading and subtle journalism. As we all know, we were dealing with customers, so we did not want to publish bad press.

This was the time I discovered Grammarly, followed by prompting with ChatGPT and Gemini. I would even write something like this: write this narrative in better English: followed by the phrase that I wrote, and most of the time it was in my native language, Tagalog. And it helped.

So for this year, 2026, AI, generative AI, Machine Learning, or whatever you call it, after almost five years of using AI, there has been a major behavior shift, and this is where we need to watch our backs. For the people who are just starting to embrace the beauty of how AI can improve their lives, my suggestion is not to treat it like their birthday clown or magician. Please, please, please use all the brain neurons you have as much as possible because it is our moral obligation as human beings to tame it and to train it.

The image link above will redirect you to my photo, probably I was maybe two or three. Just ask my mom and dad, but I know it was not during the Gen Z years. Yeah, I am already old. Then look at the photo below when I used Canva:

I just prompted Canva to enhance it, remove the background, and turn it white. But after that, is that something I should upload right away?

It is not. I have to check if it is still me, and most of the time, I am not even satisfied, so I need to get another pair of eyes to check. I asked my mom and dad to see if it was still their child.

Doing AI things should not turn you into a rudimentary shooter. AI is your gun, but it is better to set some guardrails and avoid instant gratification to eliminate indecent firing.

I am happy with my first blog entry, and I hope you learned something today. Padayon, I love you, and Mabuhay kayong lahat!
